Benjamin Wong - Head, Maritime Cluster, Invest Hong Kong

Mr Benjamin Wong is Head of the Maritime Cluster at Invest Hong Kong, the Hong Kong SAR Government department responsible for attracting and facilitating foreign direct investment. His maritime cluster portfolio covers ship owning, ship management, ship financing and leasing, marine insurance, maritime law and arbitration, marine technology and ship building etc. 

His contribution to promoting Hong Kong’s transport sectors has helped sustain and grow transport as one of the four pillar industries; and has helped numerous multinational companies land in HK. He works closely with the Transport Bureau and the maritime industry in promoting HK as the international maritime hub. He is a member of the HK Maritime and Port Board’s Maritime and Port Development Committee, Manpower Development Committee and the Promotion and Event Committee. He is also a member of the Trade Development Council’s Logistics Advisory Committee.  Mr Wong also collaborates closely with the HK Shipowners’ Association, the shipping community and government counterparts on major initiatives such as the Belt and Road and the Greater Bay Area.

With extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, Mr Wong’s expertise combines maritime sector knowledge, economic development, international marketing and investment promotion.  Before joining InvestHK, Mr Wong spent over ten years with major European and American shipping and logistics companies with regional responsibilities. 

Mr Wong holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong; a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta, Canada. He has also attended Peking University’s National Affairs Studies Programme and an exchange programme at Shanghai Fudan University.  Mr Wong is a lifetime member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Society, an international academic honour society; and Alumni Career Advisor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
